About Us

Established in 2009

the MEACR started as a personal dream, driven by my passion to establish a scientific community that focuses on cancer research in the Middle East.

MEACR founder

The MEACR is the first non-profit scientific association in the Middle-East that is dedicated to bringing together scientists, medical professionals and research institutions to fight cancer and spread cancer awareness in this region.

The MEACR was established as a nonprofit organization in 2009 and officially began its journey with its first executive committee meeting in May 2010 at Aleppo University (Aleppo, Syria). The MEACR aims to enhance the exchange between clinicians, cancer scientists, graduate students and other health workers who deal with cancer patients in the larger Middle East (ME) including North Africa. Thus, and in order to achieve this mission, the MEACR holds an annual meeting in a different ME country each year, to provide equal opportunity for all cancer researchers across the region and help them build a collaborative base with various educational and research institutions.

On the other hand, and in 2012 the MEACR launched its official scientific journal, the Clinical Cancer Investigation Journal (CCIJ). This free peer-reviewed establishment aims to help disseminate scientific findings and publish research performed in areas that lack funding and the financial support necessary to publish in other international platforms.

Moreover, after the changes that shook the world with the spread of the COVID 19 pandemic, the MEACR acknowledged the importance of having a more prominent  online presence. Thus we like to announce the addition of a new service, an online scientific educational community that is present via free educational videos and discussion platform that will further help disseminate scientific methodologies and findings in the region.

Our community can only grow with your support and input. Thus, we highly encourage you to join our young scientific community and help us expand this network of collaboration and support.
